Recipes Using Meatloaf Mix

If you’ve purchased a pre-made meatloaf mix from the store, you may be trying to figure out some recipes using meatloaf mix that aren’t meatloaf. After all, as delicious as meatloaf can be, sometimes you’re just not feeling it, or you’d like some variations in your life. Since the meatloaf mix contains a few different ground meats, there are plenty of recipes you can use it for to elevate the taste of your dish.

Meatballs

Meatballs are always a good option since meatloaf and meatballs commonly use the same types of meats. Just season your meat with garlic, onions, and Italian seasoning, form it into balls, and bake them in the oven at 350 F for about 30 minutes to get a delicious meal that tastes great on its own, in a sandwich, or with pasta!

Stuffed Peppers

Stuffed peppers are a hearty option to consider that’s packed with flavor. You’ll need the meatloaf mix, several large bell peppers, cooked rice, and a can of diced tomatoes. All you need to do is season the meatloaf mix with an egg, a little bit of ketchup, mustard, some cheese, and Italian seasoning and brown the meat. Then, cut the bell peppers in half, remove all the seeds and ribs, mix the rice and browned meat together, and put your new mixture into the cut bell peppers. Finally, pour the diced tomatoes over the top, and then bake the peppers at 350 F for 20 minutes.

Burgers

Meatloaf mix can create juicy and flavorful burgers that taste great when put on the grill. It works no differently than any other ground meat you would use. To make meatloaf burgers, season the meat to your liking, put it on the grill until it reaches its desired level of doneness, and then take it off and add it to your buns with any toppings you’d like!

Chili

Chili often utilizes different ground meats, and meatloaf mix is no different. You can season and brown your meatloaf mix on the stove with your desired spices (suggested ones are cumin, paprika, chili powder, cayenne pepper, and some salt and pepper to taste), and once it’s browned, you can add it to your pot with your liquid, beans, tomato sauce, and any vegetables you want. Depending on the heat, let the chili simmer for 35 to 40 minutes or simmer it all day long so all the ingredients meld together more.

Shepherd’s Pie

Don’t worry about combining different meats to make a more flavorful shepherd’s pie; use meatloaf mix instead! Brown the meatloaf mixture and then combine it with sautéed carrots, garlic, and onions. Next, add your broth, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, mustard, and seasonings (salt and pepper), and simmer on the stove for 10 minutes. Stir it occasionally to keep it from sticking to the pan. While that’s going, you can make the mashed potatoes and add some peas and sour cream to the dish. Once combined, pour that mixture into a casserole dish and spread it around equally. Top it with your mashed potatoes and completely cover the mixture. Sprinkle it with Parmesan cheese and cook it in the oven at 350 F for 25 to 35 minutes.

These are only a few meatloaf mix recipes you can make. Any dish that traditionally uses ground meat can be modified to utilize a meatloaf mix instead!
